Hammerhead Trade-In Values
Hammerhead has just announced a trade-in program should you want to trade in and old bike computer and buy one of their Hammerhead Karoo 2 bike computers. Fair enough, it’s a great bikenav.
More: Trade In Details
However, what I found interesting was the trade-in value that Hammerhead placed on other bike computers which ranged from £40 to £80, the only notable exception being the Hammerhead Karoo 1 which is obviously(!) worth more at £125. Further below is a list of all the bike computers and what Hammerhead (SRAM) thinks they’re all worth, there is even a brand or two I’d never heard of.
In a nutshell, Garmin and Wahoo computers are all worth £80…yes even a Garmin Edge 200 or Wahoo RFLKT.
Opinion
If you have a VERY old bike computer, some of these trade-in prices are actually generous. Should you have a fairly new Edge 1030 Plus…less so!
The interesting take is that clearly SRAM/Hammerhead recognises there are only 3 big fish in the pond. Wahoo, Garmin and themselves.

How much is this based on the value of the device, vs incentive to lure people away from a competitor. Given all Edge devices are the same, these numbers clearly aren’t based on product value.
perhaqps it represents the value of the potential customer to hammerhead and a smidgen of the likelihood that they might switch.
i think the basic target market is owners of old wahoo and garmin models and they get a reasonable deal. some of those old garmin models are going for less on fleabay
Good point. Giving top dollar to those with older devices to convert seems like a good strategy.
